Emmalyn Faith is 8 months old!

Our sweet Emmie Faith is EIGHT months old! She has been growing like a little weed and changing so quickly--sometimes it's hard to keep up! She is (as always) as cheerful a baby as you could imagine. She never sits still! She's constantly playing, trying to PULL UP (what?!), and laughing. She LOVES to watch and try to grab Zeus and is in love with her mommy and daddy. 

Emmie pulled up for the first time this month! She grabbed a toy her Mimi (Logan's mom) had and pulled herself into a standing position immediately! I was in the other room, unfortunately, but got to see it twice when Lonna shouted for me to come look.

We have also had one sick little girl on our hands...for the first time ever. I'm so thankful we've made it this far without her getting sick (especially since she was born during cold/flu season), but this one was/is a DOOZY!

On June 26 she suddenly got a fever. It remained 102/103 for S.I.X. days. SIX. before the doctors found out what was wrong. She got sick that Saturday; I took her in Monday to have her checked out. I was told it was probably "roseola" and that it would go away in a couple days and leave a rash. Great. The fever only got worse. At one point her temp (rectally) was 105...which means the drs qualify it as a temp of 104. So....I went in the next day and told them to figure this thing out! Turns out-she had a UTI. (Not as uncommon in girl babies as you'd think...so I've been told.) They gave her a shot Thurs and Fri of antibiotic and sent a urine sample out to get a culture. It came back as pseudomonas, not e. coli, like most UTIs do. Because it's such a strange and aggressive bacteria to have as a UTI, our pediatrician sent us to a pediatric urologist. 

The pediatric urologist decided she needed to have tests done to see if the infection reached her kidney. If it didn't, Emmie didn't have to have any other tests. If it did, they would do a dye test to see where the problem was. More than likely it would probably be urinary reflux. If it's not severe reflux, she could eventually grow out of it without having to have anything done besides taking medicine. ANYWAY, long story short, the first test came back to show her kidney had been affected, so in a couple of weeks, we go to get the other test done. This mommy is NOT excited. Plus she has to be sedated. Yet again, this mommy is NOT excited.

And to top it all off, the pediatrician strongly suggested we get an MRI done on her spine because she has a birthmark at the base of it...which COULD (less than 5% of a possibility)...mean that her spinal cord is tethered. Ummmmmmm.....to put it lightly, we are a little overwhelmed. 

So Logan and I ask that you pray that all is well with our little sunshine. Other than all these doctors wanting to do tests, our sweet Emmie is exactly the same as she was before her UTI. She plays, laughs, eats, etc. like normal, although her sleeping has been terribly messed up.

We thank God every day for you, Emmie Lou. We know that He is holding you in His hands and will take care of all our worries. You are absolutely perfect, and, again, we are so thankful to have been given the opportunity to be your parents.
